Describing hockey for a TV or radio audience is an art that takes skill and practice. As part of the Hockey exhibit at the Canadian Museum of History, vistors are asked to take on the challenge of calling a play, just like famed Canadian hockey play-by-play announcers.

Visitors watch segments from important games in Canadian hockey history and try to follow along, karaoke style, with a transcript of the announcer’s call. More daring participants can go on to record their own versions of the play-by-play calls in English or French, and compare them to the cadence and turns of phrase of professional announcers.

A karaoke-style interactive puts visitors in the shoes of famed Canadian hockey play-by-play announcers.
