Faking It

The Faking It iPad app was developed for the Met exhibition Faking It: Photomanipulation Before Photoshop. The goal of the application was to develop an experience that could model critical thinking about the conditions and contexts of photographic creation – for satire, propaganda, lying, defamation, and art for art’s sake.

The app includes a simple quiz game that breaks down common photomanipulation practices described in the exhibit and challenges users to figure if and how a photo was manipulated. Faking It was produced in collaboration with the Digital Media department at the Met, who provided content direction production.
